It may take a while for them to shine through. Some will. Some won't. But the ones who do, are the ones we must be thankful for and treasure. More often than not, we focus on what we don't have - rather than what we do possess. Sometimes we become blind to the positive because we cling on to all our sadness.
This is pretty hypocritical of me, it's true. I've become a pro at not realising all that I have. But I'm writing this as a way of self help. Writing this to reassure myself, that I do have heroes in my world. They don't ride a horse & wear shining armor. They don't have wings made of feathers or jump off buildings in skin tight lycra saving the world. They wear cardigans, jeans & t-shirts. They save me everyday by loving me.

When you're alone and your hero's have gone, there is one hero who can conquer the dark... You!
ReplyDeleteYour words and sentiments help others. Just like the hero's that surround you, your heartfelt prose becomes heroic to the readers of this blog. By proxy you are also as heroic as your own supportive family and friends!
Realising this might not be easy, but it's true. Understand how strong you can be to others, take strength from that and conquer your own darkness. The very (metaphorical) Olive branch you extend to others also has the leaves to soak up their light. The good feeling they are gifted from you radiates, enjoy it, take it in! Use this to feed your heart, love from others you have helped will in turn help you!
The very fact that you are able to help others should give you the strength to help yourself. At the end of the night, when you're physical hero's have gone, the one hero that can save you will always be there! Once you understand that hero is you, there will be no need for another hero. Then they can be family, friends and lovers they should be.
I can see a bright future for you, and with all the soul searching you'll be the strongest person imaginable.
